LIVE BROADCAST

LGBT families are one of the most vulnerable and closed groups in the society: they are often monitored by the guardianship and custody bodies, their children may fall under the law "on the prohibition of propaganda", the second parent is often forced to be "aunt" or "family friend" for those around them. However, parenting is only a part of these people's lives - along with their careers, everyday tasks, and so on.

Let's talk about LGBT parenting as something more than vulnerability and a struggle for rights. We want to know how the life of parents from the community is intertwined with the general idea of "parent's life". What happens if an LGBT person's identity is superimposed on a positive HIV status, high publicity, or other circumstances.

During the public-talk "What about the children?" LGBT parents with diverse identities will speak and share their experiences of raising children. We will receive answers to questions:

- Do children who are raised by LGBT people and people living with HIV need special support or adaptation?

- Is it worth focusing the child's attention on the fact that he has a different family like everyone else?

- At what age is it worth talking to a child about LGBT people? In what context?

- How to raise a brave, self-confident child in a homophobic society?

- What real threats are there for LGBT families?

The discussion will be moderated by Olga Shamina, psychologist of the LGBT group "Coming Out", the leader of the support group "Rainbow Families".

Public talk is a format of a public meeting, an interview with experts on the topic of the event.
